Usually the Tonhalle in St. Gallen (Switzerland) is the home of music. Built at the beginning of the 20th century in the typical Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau style, the concert building forms an integral part of the city’s cultural scene. A magnificent setting to present numerous contemporary works by mouth and foot painters as well as the present artists Bracha Fischel from Switzerland, Antje Kratz, Lars Höllerer from Germany, Lea Otter from Austria and Serge Maudet from France.
The exhibition in the Tonhalle will include paintings of the St. Gallen artist Klaus Spahni. The multi-layered work of the Swiss mouth painter, who died in 2014, is characterized by intense colors and form studies. A large part of its figurative and abstract paintings are now in the permanent collection of the Kunstmuseum of St. Gallen.
The exhibition is preceded by the first artists’ workshop of the GMFK on 21 and 22 November 2016. The organizer of the workshop is the Genossenschaft der Mund- oder Fussmaler – Kunstverlag Au and headed by the St. Galler artist Kathrin Spahni. The workshop will provide space for encounters and a platform for the exchange of experiences. Those interested are welcome to admire the work of the participating artists on site. They have the opportunity to do so between 10 am and 12 am, as well as 2 pm and 5 pm.
