Colours without boarders

From 4 November to 21 December 2024, our scholarship holder from Iceland, Brandur Bjarnason Karlsson, travelled to Nepal for the fourth time. You can read some personal accounts of his adventure below:

On 9 and 14 December 2025, the artist organised events where children and adults could paint together with him. The first took place in a school, the second at a sacred Hindu temple. Passers-by became aware of the painters, which emphasised the unifying power of art.

A highlight of the trip was the exhibition of the artworks on 15 December in the historic Royal Palace in Kathmandu. Representatives of Nepal’s emerging disability rights movement were also invited, and their stories and challenges were very inspiring. The trip emphasised the importance of art as a bridge between people and the need to foster international connections and promote inclusion
