Burboa Rios Juan Pablo

Juan Pablo Burboa Ríos was born on 22 June 1974 in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. He attended primary and secondary school.

On 1 May 2002, at the age of 27, he went swimming with his friends to a canal after a football game. When diving into the water headfirst he hit his head so hard on the bottom that the broke his 3rd, 4th and 5th cervical vertebrae, resulting in permanent tetraplegia. Therefore he has no control over his body anymore. The mobility of his upper extremities is very limited and as a consequence he has no use of them. Furthermore his lower extremities are completely paralysed.

Encouraged by VDMFK student member and mouth painter Lidia Chaidez, Juan Pablo began to paint with his mouth himself and, due to his persistence and constant efforts, was soon able to make artistic progress.
