The association of mouth and foot painting artists all over the world (VDMFK) held its 15th delegate convention from July 2nd to 6th, 2023 in Copenhagen. After Rio de Janeiro in 2019, this was the first convention after the corona crisis. A total of 35 mouth and foot painters from all 5 continents met for this occasion in Denmark’s capital.
conference days were held from Monday to Wednesday. In addition to the statutory points, artistic and business aspects were deepened. The exchange between the artists was always the focus.
The popular President of the VDMFK, Serge Maudet, was confirmed in office for another legislative period. The board of directors also remains unchanged as Ms. Soon-Yi Oh of South Korea and Mr. Grant Sharman of New Zealand prevailed against challenging candidates for a board seat. A highlight of the event was the international painting exhibition in the imposing rooms of the Royal Danish Opera House, where over 120 unique pictures painted by mouth or foot were presented to the public. Also on view was the International Short Festival, a documentary series about the daily lives of 16 outstanding people who have made foot or mouth painting an integral part of their lives.
On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition on July 4, 2023, the Swedish foot painter Lena Maria Vendelius welcomed the guests with her harmonious singing. In addition to the welcome speech by President Serge Maudet, Mia Nyegaard, the popular mayor for culture and leisure, and the well-known actress Lone Hertz addressed the numerous visitors. The Danish Honorary Consul Doris Christine Jäggi-Lind moderated the opening. The program was rounded off by a singing performance by the well-known tenor Gert Henning and a dance performance by the Royal Danish Ballet.
To round off the successful delegates’ convention, on Thursday, July 6, 2023, the participants visited Louisiana, a wonderful museum for modern art, which is located on the picturesque east coast of Denmark. A fitting conclusion for the passionate mouth and foot painting artists.
