Curriculum

Itzhak Adir went to a technical college of the Israeli Air Force. While in the army he was an Air Force engineer. At the age of 24 he was severely injured. He has been confined to the wheelchair ever since. As a mouth painter he created a new life for himself and mastered his difficult fate through painting.

One year after his accident Adir was granted a scholarship by the Association. This enabled him to enrol at the academy for art teachers in Ramat-Hasharon and graduating with honours. In 1979 he became full member of the VDMFK. Today he works as a teacher and lecturer at the academy of art teachers. He initiated and expanded a course called “Rehabilitating art”. This course serves to train art teachers who work with disabled people.

Still lives and landscapes characterise Itzhak Adir’s works. His teachers at the art academy in Israel taught him the painting culture and tradition of this genre. He lightens these compositions through his highly developed sense of colour. In the course of years the artist has participated in many exhibitions around the globe. His works have been exhibited in places such as Sydney, Vancouver, Madrid and other great cities.
